Seasonal Loose Leaf Collection begins Tuesday, November 12

The City of Raleigh’s 2019 - 2020 Seasonal Loose Leaf Collection service will begin on Tuesday, November 12. Annual leaf collection is offered to residents living inside Raleigh city limits.

The City is divided into 12 zones and crews collect leaves using special vacuuming equipment. Crews work zone by zone, completing two passes of neighborhoods between November and early 2020.

To learn what zone you live in and when leaves are scheduled to be collected, visit raleighnc.gov/leaf. Weather will impact the speed at which crews can collect leaves. Wet weather significantly hinders collection efforts.

Please remember to do your part:

- Leaves only! No other yard waste or trash in your leaf piles;
- Do not rake or blow leaves into the street. Not only are leaf piles in the street dangerous to motorists and cyclists, they block storm drains and cause flooding; and,
- Place leaves in your yard, typically in the area between the curb and sidewalk but no more than six feet from the edge of the pavement.

If you have questions or concerns, call Raleigh Department of Transportation’s Right of Way Maintenance Division at 919-996-6446 before preparing your leaf pile for collection.
