Comp Plan 2030: SAVE THIS DATE: March 19

Raleigh Planning Department posts the following information on the Comp Plan:

The Public Hearing Draft

The City of Raleigh is pleased to announce the availability of the Public Hearing Draft of the 2030 Comprehensive Plan. This is a complete draft that incorporates changes resulting from the public input period through January 31. The draft will be presented to the City Council and Planning Commission at a joint public hearing to be held March 19, 2009, Click here to browse the document on-line, and download a printable version.

What's next in the process?

The Public Hearing Draft has been released, and a Public Hearing to receive input will be held with the City Council and Planning Commission on March 19, 2009. On March 24 the Planning Commission will begin its review of the Public Hearing Draft of the Plan. The Planning Commission will forward its recommendation to the City Council. The plan will become official upon its adoption by the City Council, including any amendments to the Public Hearing Draft that council may direct. All meetings are open to the public.

Every meeting is open to the public, and registration is not required.

Wake Transit Plans : Public Meeting March 5

On behalf of the Capital Area Friends of Transit coalition, I invite you to attend this informative meeting, hosted by Mayor Charles Meeker, on plans for transit in Wake County. The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) and Triangle Transit will provide an overview of transit plans recently approved by CAMPO. Legislators will update folks on the new transit legislation, the Congestion Relief/Intermodal Transport bill – that will give counties the authority to hold a referendum for a ½ cent sales tax.

Public Meeting March 5th on Wake Transit Plan and Transit Legislation -- YOU ARE INVITED!

Please join Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker , NC Representative Deborah Ross and transit officials Thursday, March 5 at 6:30-7:30 pm for a public meeting on the future of transit for Wake County. This will be a great opportunity to learn about the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization's proposal for transit in Wake County and to learn how it might affect you. Rep. Ross will describe recently introduced transit legislation -- HB 148 and SB 151. Plus, the Capital Area Friends of Transit (CAFT) will give an update on activities of our coalition.

The proposed Wake County Plan for transit includes:

doubling of bus service throughout the county, including express service to several towns beyond Raleigh.
light rail from NW Cary through West Raleigh, NCSU, downtown Raleigh and up to Triangle Town Center
